For an easy passage through the airport formalities, all departing Business Class passengers travelling on SriLankan Airlines, can now use the “Silk Route” lounge free of charge, a facility that is managed by the airport operator, Airport and Aviation Services Ltd.. Passengers who do not report to “Silk Route” lounge, can check in at dedicated check-in counters 01 and 02 that are exclusively for SriLankan Airlines Business Class travellers.

Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. staff take care of all the formalities that a passenger is expected to complete before embarkation or after disembarkation as the case may be. Charges will apply.

Check-in counters for Economy Class are open from 06 hours - 01 hour before your expected time of departure.

Passengers can check-in online before 48 hours up to 02 hours before your scheduled time of departure by visiting our website www.srilankan.com. Your baggage can be dropped at a dedicated check-in counter No 15.

You have a free baggage allowance of 40kg and may carry 2 pieces cabin baggage, either garment bags or overnight bags measuring no more than 18"x14"x8" (46x36x20 cm) weighing no more than 7 kg each, or any combination of the two.

You have a free baggage allowance of 30kg and in addition one piece of carry-on baggage measuring no more than 18"x14"x8" (46x36x20cm) and weighing no more than 7 kgs

As we do not fly direct to USA or Canada, the two piece baggage concept is not applicable to SriLankan Airlines passengers. However, if you are with onward journeys to USA or Canada on another carrier, you will be given the benefit of the two-piece baggage concept out of Colombo provided you are through ticketed. Please check with your Booking Agent for your allowed baggage allowance for the onward carrieras these Free Baggage allowances do vary time to time.

Cats and dogs can be carried as checked baggage. The total weight of the pet and the cage along with food will be charged at the normal excess baggage rate, regardless of how much you may carry. There are restrictions in carrying pets to certain countries as well as on certain Sri Lankan Aircrafts. Please check with your Ticketing Agent.

As a standard practice each passenger is permitted to carry one bag containing Golf clubs / one pair Golf shoes weighing not more than 15kgs at a special charge equivalent to that of 6kg at the applicable excess baggage rate based on the weight.

The Golf equipment may also be included into the free baggage allowance. Any excess weight will be assessed at the special rate given above, or at the normal excess baggage rate, whichever is less.

At present Passengers travelling in Business & Economy class are permitted to carry a set of Golf Equipment weighing 15/10 kgs respectively free of charge. Please check with your Booking Agent for the allowance as these charges do vary time to time.

Each passenger is permitted to carry one set of Snow Skiing equipment at a special charge equivalent to that 3kg at the applicable excess baggage charge regardless of its actual weight.

If the equipment is included as part of the free baggage allowance, any excess weight will be assessed at the normal excess baggage rate or at the special rate, whichever is less.

If there is more than one set of equipment the normal excess baggage charge will be applicable for the additional equipment carried.

Passengers may carry either one Surfboard or one Windsurfing or one Diving equipment within the free baggage allowance. Any excess weight will be assessed at the normal excess baggage rate.

If there is more than one piece of equipment, the normal excess baggage charge will be applicable for the additional equipment carried.

Bicycles can be included in the free baggage allowance. Any excess weight will be assessed at the normal excess baggage rate. Need to adhere to packing instructions. Please check with Ticketing Agent.

Each seat occupied by baggage shall be charged at the normal applicable IATA published / Flex one way adult fare for the sector and the class of service used. However, the maximum weight of any baggage under this arrangement shall not exceed 75kg per seat. Passengers' checked baggage allowances will not be increased when using this facility.

An Embarkation Tax of LKR 3250.00 is levied on every Departing passenger who has stayed in Sri Lanka for over 24 hours. This is included in the Passenger Ticket and one is not require to make a separate payment at the airport. Transit passengers who have stayed for less than 24 hours and infants (i.e. children under 2 years) are exempted from the Embarkation Tax.
