The foreign Passports must be valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay in Sri Lanka. Visas may be obtained on arrival for a 30-day period only for nationals in specified countries identified by the Immigration. Duty free shops are available at the Arrival terminal mostly with electrical items, chocolates, wine, spirits, etc. The duty free concessions (Customs Import) for Nationals of Sri Lanka and Residents of Sri Lanka, free import only by persons over 18 years of age is given under;

• 2.5 litres of spirits; and
• 2 litres of wine; and
• Travel Souvenirs, not intended for commercial use, up to the value of USD 250

Non Residents - free import only by persons over 18 years of age is given under;

• 1.5 litres of spirits; and
• 2 bottles of wine; and,
• 250 ml of eau-de cologne; and
• Small quantity of perfume; and
• Souvenirs, not intended for commercial use, up to the value of USD 250

If you visit Sri Lanka for a short period of time (up to 45 days) you can take advantage of the Airport's bond baggage facility. Your baggage will be checked by Customs and Airport Security and then will be sealed and transferred to the departure terminal where it will be stored until your next flight. An intercity bus service operates from the Airport. Buses leave for Colombo every 30 minutes. An Airport Taxi Service with a fleet of over 600 vehicles also operates a counter at the arrival lobby. The Taxi Service can be contacted on Tel: +94 112 252861 Ext: 3097

Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) operates an efficient public bus service via the Colombo- Katunayake expressway for the convenience of those who travel to and from Bandaranaike International Airport.

From 6 am to 6 pm every day, there will be buses operating every 20 minutes while from 6 pm to 7 pm the number of buses in operation will be 2. From there onwards there will be three buses available based on the number of passengers.

The fee for an individual is LKR: 130.00.
