The following Terms and Conditions will apply to the submission of offers for upgrading Your flight ticket purchased for Economy Class to a Business Class ticket on SriLankan Airlines flight.
The Upgrade is a paid change by transfer of the ticket purchased by the Passenger on SriLankan Airlines from economy class for flights operated by SriLankan Airlines (hereinafter the “Ticket”) to business class.
In order for the passenger to be able to present an upgrade offer to SriLankan Airlines, they must first purchase a ticket that includes one or more flight segments operated by SriLankan Airlines in Economy Class. This includes both tickets issued by SriLankan Airlines, in which case the ticket number starts with 603xxxx, or those issued by other select interline and codeshare partners. Note: Tickets purchased using Flysmiles miles is not eligible for upgrade offers/bid)
An Upgrade Offer, when submitted by you in association with a booking made with SriLankan Airlines, whether made directly with SriLankan Airlines or indirectly through other means, and presented to SriLankan Airlines, shall entitle the person or persons named on the Upgrade Offer, subject to these Terms and Conditions, to be considered for an Upgrade.
After purchasing the ticket the Passenger will have the option of requesting an Upgrade. If the purchased flight leg is eligible for the Upgrade Offer, Passengers may submit their offers by suggesting a price, until 12 hours before departure for flights departing other countries and 5 hours before departure for flights departing Colombo after clicking on the respective "Upgrade" link. An Upgrade Offer should be done for each sector.
The Passenger will be asked to complete the offered price for the Upgrade and their payment details. After completion of the information and confirmation of the information by the Passenger, the Passenger’s Upgrade Offer will be registered.
Passengers may only submit one Upgrade Offer per flight which corresponds to the purchased ticket, and the Offers must always be made and paid by using a credit card which shall be nominated by the Passenger at the time of making the Upgrade Offer.
SriLankan Airlines reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to decide whether or not to accept Your Upgrade Offer, and it makes no representation that any Passenger will be
upgraded regardless of whether or not seats are available in the class of service for
which an Upgrade Offer is being made.
In the event SriLankan Airlines accepts your Upgrade Offer, Your nominated credit card
shall be charged the full amount immediately upon acceptance, and SriLankan will issue
a new ticket reflecting your Upgrade to each Passenger included in your original flight
booking. The total amount charged will include all applicable pre-payable taxes and fees
(if any) for the Upgrade.
Once your bid has been successful, no further confirmation will be sought in order to process
the payment for the bid.
If your bid is successful, cancellation of your bid is not allowed within 72 hours prior to
departure.
Acceptance of your Upgrade Offer will be informed between 72 to 4 hours prior to departure of Your flight by email
In the event SriLankan Airlines re-accommodates you on another SriLankan Airlines’ flight for whatever reason other than your default, or you are downgraded to Economy Class on the same flight, any upgrade offer you make in relation to the original booking will be refunded. Kindly note that the passenger will not be entitled to any other compensation.
There will be no refunds, credits, or exchanges once your Upgrade Offer/instant Upgrade has been accepted by SriLankan Airlines and Your nominated credit card has been charged, except under the following conditions:
The flight for which Your Upgrade Offer/Instant Upgrade was accepted and upgraded was cancelled, and SriLankan Airlines re-accommodated you on another flight but in the class of service of Your original booking, in which case the amount paid for the Upgrade will be refunded to the nominated credit card that was used to pay for the Upgrade and SriLankan Airlines shall have no further liability to You.
Your Upgrade Offer/Instant Upgrade was accepted and You were given an Upgrade, but You were not able to be seated in the upgraded class of service for reasons attributable to SriLankan Airlines, including, but not limited to, a change in equipment, a delay in the connecting flight that resulted in You missing the connection on which you were upgraded, but excluding reasons attributable to Your actions or omissions, including, but not limited to, You on Your own opting to change flights or You missing a flight.
Should any refunds be approved, as set out the above mentioned circumstances,
they will be processed in the currency in which the Upgrade price was charged.
Such refunds shall be limited to amount charged for the Upgrade and bank
related charges shall not be refunded.
The fare conditions for the original Ticket You purchased, including, but not limited to, cancellation policies, change fees, and rules relating to the accrual of frequent flyer miles shall remain unchanged and in effect and will be applicable even if Your Upgrade Offer has been accepted and You have been upgraded.
If any changes to your travel itinerary take place within 48 hours prior to departure, the airline
will not refund the upgrade charge nor will you be able to re-use the upgrade on another flight.
All other charges/refunds will be as per the fare rules of the original economy class ticket
purchased.
Limousine services shall not be applicable to any Upgrade pursuant to an Upgrade Offer
If the Passenger makes changes to the Ticket after the Upgrade Offer has been accepted
by SriLankan Airlines, Passenger will not be entitled to transfer the upgrade to another
flight or refund the upgrade.
SriLankan Airlines reserves the right to change, alter, amend or cancel any or all of these
Terms and Conditions from time to time, without any prior notice.
In the event two or more passengers booked on one PNR submit a bid and thereafter split the PNR, prior to the receipt of upgrade confirmation from UL, the system will only consider the passengers in the original PNR for upgrade. The passengers in the split (new) PNRs will have to submit a new bid.
If you upgraded to Business class your pre order meal /special meal request will be cancelled for the Upgraded Booking
In the event You are upgraded, You are entitled to the standard Business Class baggage allowance of 40KG or to the baggage allowance indicated on your ticket if it exceeds 40KG. This entitlement is only valid for the upgraded segment of the journey. Should you require extra baggage allowance for your connecting or onwards journey, you can Pre purchase extra baggage allowance at a discount over airport rates. If you are upgraded, You will be entitled to lounge access where available. However, this will only be at the departure point of the upgraded segments and no further lounge entitlements will be provided.
In the event two or more passengers booked on one PNR submit a bid and thereafter split the PNR, prior to the receipt of upgrade confirmation from UL, the system will only consider the passengers in the original PNR for upgrade. The passengers in the split (new) PNRs will have to submit a new bid. By making an offer for an upgrade You expressly acknowledge that You have read and
understood above Terms and Conditions and that you accept these Terms and Conditions.
